Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I tested positive for COVID yesterday. I had a bad night due to a fever and sick cough. I also noticed my resting bpm is higher than usual. Is that normal? I have atrial fibrillation and SVT.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Please do an ECG (electrocardiogram) and upload it to know your heart rhythm. Do take the necessary consultation for COVID. Monitor O2 (oxygen) saturation regularly. Antivirals (like Favipiravir according to the suggested dose can be taken). Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have sent my ECG. Is it normal for my resting heart rate to be higher than usual?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The attached reports (the attachments are removed to protect the patient's identity) show the normal rhythm. No signs of SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) or atrial fibrillation. These are just three leads; you can also do 12 lead ECGs in ER (emergency room) to keep a record of baseline ECG. Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is it normal to have a higher heart rate when you have COVID?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yeah, it is possible because, in infections and fever, metabolic rate increases, so heart rate too. But yours is 83 bpm (beats per minute) and still in the normal range (Normal 60-100 bpm). Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is there anything I should do or anything I should avoid?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Just get COVID treatment and keep your body temperature regular. What are all you taking for COVID? Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can I take Paracetamol?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is best to take Paracetamol, keep yourself hydrated and use some electrolyte solutions like ORS (oral rehydration solution). I suggest zinc and multivitamin supplements. We usually suggest antivirals, Doxycycline, and Ivermectin. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yeah, we do not have that in our country. I have taken some vitamin D.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Have you not gotten vaccinated? Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yes, my last booster was Moderna last year.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

And then also you got infected. Is it mild?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Last night was rough. Shivering, then fever, puking, and a bit of a cough. I feel better today. I am tired, though. I am having COVID for the second time.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you get a chest X-ray and HRCT (High-resolution computed tomography) on the fifth day. If saturation decreases, get them done immediately and get admitted. Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

It is the NHS (national health service). I doubt I will be able to get that.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

But if saturation drops, you can get admitted. Do not worry about heart rate. It is normal. Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are welcome. I hope you find it helpful. Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
