Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old with a weight of 61 kilograms. I have some marks on my legs after an accident. It does not seem to be a mark of injury but it gets increased. I am attaching the picture. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attached picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It seems to be due to infection. You have got an open wound due to injury and it had got infected. You have not taken any proper precautions. Due to that, you may have developed some marks. You can take tablet Amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day for five days. Clean the wound with Betadine (Povidone-Iodine) two to three times a day. Apply Beclomethasone and Clotrimazole cream after cleaning. Keep the wound dry. Please mention whether you have got a tetanus shot after injury. Please mention whether you got this injury due to an iron rod. Please mention the medications taken for it. Please mention whether you have taken any X-rays.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have not taken any X-rays. I have not taken any tetanus shots. I got this injury when I got slipped from my tow-wheeler on the road. I am not taking any medication now and I took a simple treatment at that time. Why it is spreading now? It was a small injury and I got recovered from it within 20 days.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As it was a road accident, you have not taken any tetanus shots and antibiotics. Due to poor precautions, you have got this infection. I suggest you take a tetanus shot soon. Take the medicines as prescribed. If there is pain, then take an X-ray.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

There is a lot of improvement after taking precautions. I took tablets for five days and used Betadine to clean my wounds. I used Beclomethasone and Clotrimazole cream continuously. I have not taken my tetanus shot. Do I need to change my soap? I have attached my latest picture. How long will it take to become normal?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It takes a time of two to three weeks to get healed. Due to delay in treatment, the scar takes some time to go. I suggest you continue taking treatment for a week. After that, you can have a change in treatment. If you have abdominal discomfort due to antibiotics, then you can take tablet Pantop (Pantoprazole) 40 mg once a day before meals. After a week, you can have some improvement. Have a tetanus shot soon.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

For now, I am applying Betadine, Beclometasone, and Clotrimazole cream. Do I need to take Pantop 40 mg along with Amoxicillin 500 mg?

I have some improvement. I am worried about the dark spot. Can I remove it? I am following your medicines properly. I am attaching my latest picture. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attached picture. It seems to be fine. You do not require any further testing. Stop taking antibiotics and apply cream over the wound. You can take tablet Prednisone 10 mg once a day after meal for five days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
