Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My friend's 2-year-old baby girl weighs 18.7 pounds and is getting fever daily at 4 'o' clock in the morning for the last one week. After using the medicine, fever fades off at 11 a.m. and there is sometimes vomiting too. Also please help us to get rid of this issue. My friend has married his sister's daughter that is why the baby also is very lean. The doctor said because he has married in his immediate relation, so the child is like this and the baby is very lean. Can you please suggest some medicine or food for the baby? If we feed anything also, she vomits. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is just a myth that your friend's child is lean because of marrying his sister's daughter. This is not true. Your child may not be gaining adequate weight for some other reason. Regarding fever, your child might be suffering probably from a viral infection like dengue. From the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), platelet count is very low (2 lakh/mm3). Low platelet count can be caused by any viral infection per se, but now dengue cases are occurring. Since it has been a week of illness, you can get tested for dengue serology IgM (immunoglobulin M) and IgG (immunoglobulin G) as it is not done yet. It is better to get admitted to a hospital for regular monitoring of platelets and clinical condition as a whole.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
