Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am in a long-distance relationship and did not have sex for the last two months. My partner and I are together again and have started having sex. On the first day, I had mild pain but no bleeding; on the second day of sex, I had mild bleeding. Today is the third day, and I had spotting after sex. I have also been on a mini pill (progesterone-only) for the last three years, and it has completely stopped my periods. Is the bleeding after sex normal, or should I be concerned?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
There are many causes of bleeding or spotting post-sexual intercourse. They are:
Mild vaginal bleeding could be a side effect of the mini pill. I suggest you use a condom with water-based lubricant. If the bleeding persists, you can visit a local gynecologist for an internal examination to check for any inflammation or infection.
I hope this helps.
Take care.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
The bleeding has stopped today. I also engaged in sexual intercourse, and no bleeding was present. I am feeling better now, and I think it was due to the fact that perhaps I was not active before and suddenly got active again.
I hope to consult you if there is any more concern.
Thank you.
