Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 20 years old. I missed my period last month and got to know that I was pregnant. So I took Mifepristone. Now it has been more than a month since I had my periods. And I also have a lot of weight gain recently. My pregnancy test was negative this month. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.com.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion.

Based on your symptoms, you may be experiencing a delay in your menstrual cycle due to the Mifepristone (Progesterone) medication you took. Mifepristone is commonly used as a medication to terminate pregnancy, and it can cause a delay in menstrual periods for several weeks after the procedure. However, if it has been more than a month since you took the medication and you have not had your period yet, you may be pregnant again or experiencing a condition called amenorrhea, which is the absence of menstrual periods for more than three months.

To confirm whether you are pregnant or experiencing amenorrhea, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test and consulting with a healthcare provider. They can perform additional tests to guide how to manage your symptoms and address any underlying health concerns.

In the meantime, you should continue practicing safe sex and using birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It is also important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and managing any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to your symptoms.

I hope this information helps provide some insight into your symptoms.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you.
