Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My period is irregular. The last cycle was pretty normal. However, this month I had unprotected sex with my partner on day 12 of the cycle, and I took a pill a few hours later. My ovulation prediction said that my ovulation would be on day 18 of the cycle. In this past week, my breasts felt heavier, and I have been feeling light cramps for about a day or two now. I have also started noticing pink discharge. Could I be pregnant even though I took a pill before ovulation started?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. Menstrual irregularities (pink discharge), in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by an I-pill (levonorgestrel). As you took I-pill (levonorgestrel) on time, there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case. There is still a two to three percent chance of failure with the I-pill (levonorgestrel). So wait and watch for your menses. Get your home urine pregnancy test seven days after your missed period date.

I hope you found this useful; feel free to ask for more information.

Good luck.
