What causes severe gastric issues after gallbladder removal?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have symptoms like loss of appetite, heartburn or heart skips a beat, bloating or gas, nausea or mini vomit in mouth, unpleasant taste in mouth or bad breath, abdominal pain sometimes, sometimes fever, when on toilet, trouble going poo and uncomfortable movement, shortness of breath, like contractions in gut when pooing, pass gas lots. All frequent in the last two weeks. Got gallbladder removed seven years back.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

See, what really happens is after removal of the gallbladder, it is seen that the person develops acidity and gastritis frequently. I would also say that these are symptoms related to irritable bowel syndrome. My recommendations would be to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once daily for a few days. Take a soft and bland diet. Get your thyroid profile done.

Thank you.
