Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My sister is 50 years old. She had undergone knee replacement surgery 10 months before in the government hospital. She is not walking fully, she just moves slowly without any support for the last month. But she had a big wound and leaking water in the surgery area. Our local doctors recommended for CT scan. Herewith I have attached that report for your kind reference.

Kindly give your valuable opinion.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

She is a diabetic patient. A knee replacement was done last year. She has been having this issue since this year. Now she is walking slightly without any support but a watery substance leaking from the wound area. Herewith I attached the CT image, x-ray image, and blood test report. She took a tablet for one month and there are no improvements. So our local doctors recommended a CT scan and now new medicine and vein injection have been given as per the doctor's suggestion. Is it anything serious? Is any revision surgery needed?

Please answer me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Well-diabetic patients are prone to get an infection after total knee replacement. And I strongly feel after seeing the CT (computed tomography) scan, that it is an infection but I am sure about the implant loosening because the picture taken is not appropriate. Anyways, could you please send me your doctor's prescription? I want to see what medicine are they giving and what is their further course of action. Also, if you can further tell me that have they sent any fluid from there for culture and further examination?

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
