What is bladeless surgery different from a customized one?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am interested in LASIK laser. My eye side number is R = - 1.75 and L = -2.25. My cornea focus is 590 590. Please advise me a little bit about customised versus bladeless technique surgery.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I think it is a good decision to go for LASIK as your refractive power and corneal thickness is within requirement, ideally, both eye numbers should be same for LASIK but you may ask your LASIK surgeon regarding this. Also, I prefer bladeless LASIK, that is femtosecond LASIK which is much better than using microkeratome. In bladeless LASIK all the steps will be done by LASER. So, it is better than customised LASIK.

I hope I have solved your query.

Thank you.
