Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I went for a LASIK checkup, and I was deemed fit for it. I am 23-year-old and got my eyesight tested last when I was 20 or 21 years old. At that time my number was -2.25 (left) and -2.75 (right). Now it is -2.25 (left) and -4 (right), with 0.75 cylindrical power in both. Should I go for LASIK now? Kindly give your opinion.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
If you plan to undergo LASIK, they will be testing you again to check if you are an appropriate candidate for the procedure. And the rise in refractive power is normal as power can increase till 23 years. Your power must be stable for six months to one year before you undergo the procedure. Do you rub your eyes? Or do you use gadgets for a long time? This can also cause a rise in power. Anyway, when you plan to undergo LASIK, all this will be checked. So do not worry. You can undergo it provided your parameters are normal, and doctors will confirm with this and then only proceed. I hope this was helpful.
