Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had LASIK eye surgery one week ago. After stopping my prescribed eye drops, I noticed my vision in my right eye is blurry.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand that you had LASIK done a week ago. The drops prescribed after the surgery usually include a tear supplement or lubricant along with antibiotics and steroids. The antibiotics and steroids help with the healing process. The tear supplements are to maintain the normal level of tear secretion found in the eye, this is because, during the surgery, the nerves helping natural tear production would have been severed resulting in dry eye. Hence, in most countries, the tear supplements are continued for around a month or two. The cornea also takes around 2 to 3 months for complete healing and remodeling after surgery, so do not worry about temporary changes in vision. My advice to you is please go through your post operative drugs chart again and see if you still need to continue your postoperative medication. Given that you have only around two days until the review, you can safely use your drops with the recommended dosage without the risk of any major side effects. You should consider meeting your ophthalmologist sooner in case of redness or severe foreign body sensation or discharge which makes your eye stick together in the morning or frank pain in the eye.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
