How to deal with constant body pain that occurs after long sitting hours at work?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My problem is that my leg hurts so badly and also sometimes my body shivers and headaches due to sitting at one place. Rest time is given for only 10 to 20 minutes after every 1 hour and 30 minutes while having lunch.

How can I deal with it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Sitting for a prolonged period causes this kind of illness like leg pain and other issues like body shivering and headache. I have a few pieces of advice for you.

  1. Take care of your nutrition. Eat food rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium, especially Vitamin D3. Deficiency in these can cause muscle, bone, and joint issues.
  2. At least seven to eight hours of rest and sleep are necessary every day.
  3. Exercise your legs frequently while sitting for a long time to avoid cramps and other issues.
  4. Keep yourself well hydrated. Drink a lot of water and freshwater juice.
  5. Keep changing your posture once in every 15 minutes. Do set an alarm.
  6. You can use a gel seat cushion.
  7. Sit comfortably and work.
  8. Drink three to four cups of green tea per day. It contains flavonoids which can help you better.
  9. Avoid coffee and caffeinated drinks.

I hope it helps.

Take care.
