Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had my hormone test done, and my leptin is 10.2 ng/mL. I have been gaining weight rapidly for the past two months. Please help me with the prescription.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Leptin is a measure of fat tissue in your body. In rare genetic diseases where there are leptin hormone receptor problems, leptin hormone production problems, lipodystrophy problems, leptin is used as a medicine. Leptin measurement does not help in managing weight in overweight issues.
The medications like Orlistat, Liraglutide, and Dulaglutide can help you lose weight, but you need to understand the possible side effects. Weight loss medicine can not simply be prescribed over a session like this. Please start tracking your calorie intake. You can use an app that can help you with this.
Start cutting down calorie intake. I need to get more history and your other medical or psychological problems. Kindly reach back with the details regarding the following questions.
1) Have you had any surgeries?
2) What was your weight history since you were a child?
3) Are you under any medication?
4) How much did you weigh two months ago?
5) Was your thyroid checked for TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), FT4 (free thyroxine)?
6) Do you have any other symptoms like easy bruising, red or purple stretch marks in the abdomen or thighs?
7) Are you following a diet plan?
8) Are you following an exercise routine?
9) Did you meet with a dietician?
Please help.
Thank you.
