Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with leukemia, and I have been taking the tablet Imatinib 400 mg. My blood report confirmed that my white blood cell count has become normal. Does this mean that I do not have leukemia? Can I live a normal life now? I am planning to get married in a few years. Will my condition affect my married life in any way?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are on Imatinib therapy because you had CML (chronic myeloid leukemia). From the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), a normal white blood cell (WBC) count shows that you are in the stage of hematological remission. I suggest you get a BCR-ABL (breakpoint cluster region protein-Abelson) gene quantification test to assess the disease status.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
