Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old male and have trouble losing belly fat despite exercise and diet. I am taking the tablet Micardis 80 mg. My body mass index (BMI) is 31.1, and I have a stout body. I am considering laser liposuction to reduce the fat around my belly as the last option. I need advice on the long-term effects of this procedure and where I can get this done.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Laser liposuction is a noninvasive procedure in which laser energy causes lysis of the fat cells. Contents of these cells are either utilized by the body for energy or are expelled through the lymphatic system. It is generally done if someone wants to lose weight in a localized area instead of total body weight loss. It is also done when the localized body fat store is not reducing or resistant to diet and exercise. The patient should be physically fit. You mentioned that you are taking tablet Micardis (Telmisartan) 80 mg. I suggest you visit a plastic surgeon before undergoing this procedure to know about the benefits and your fitness for this procedure. This procedure does not destroy the fat cell but shrinks them. If someone can exercise regularly, has a healthy diet, and burns more calories than daily intake, the results last longer. The clinician will decide the number of sessions required depending upon the target to reduce the weight. I would suggest you visit a plastic surgeon in your area and discuss the benefits and how to maintain the body shape after the procedure is done to get maximum benefit.

Thank you.
