What could cause tooth sensitivity following a dental filling and deep cleaning procedure?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old female. A few days ago, I underwent a deep teeth cleaning procedure and had fillings placed in some of my teeth. Today, one of the teeth with a filling has started to hurt, and it feels as though it may become loose or fall out. Kindly help.

Hello.Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. If the tooth that has been filled is causing pain, it is possible that the tooth has a deep cavity that has led to an infection in the pulp. In this case, it may be necessary to undergo root canal treatment in order to save the tooth. To cure the infection, I suggest you take a course of antibiotics with a tablet containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid three times a day. Additionally, I suggest you take a strong painkiller like a tablet containing Aceclofenac and Paracetamol three times daily for a week to manage the pain. If your dentist is not available, I suggest you visit another dentist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. Delaying treatment may result in an increase in pain. If possible, I suggest you initiate the root canal treatment, as it can provide immediate relief from the discomfort you are experiencing. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
