Hello doctor,

My father is 67 years old. He had a persistent cough and weight loss for several weeks, and he has now been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Please let us know the following:

  1. We are trying to understand what this stage means for his health going forward. What should we expect in terms of disease progression and overall outlook?

  2. The doctors have mentioned treatment options, but we are unsure about their goals. Are treatments at this stage mainly aimed at controlling the disease rather than curing it?

  3. Also, what types of therapies are usually recommended for stage IV lung cancer?
