Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I caught Lyme disease two months ago. I had a 7 hour long vomiting session with it. Since then, I have had tingling in my arms, legs, hands and feet. A month ago, I started having kaleidoscope vision, followed by a medium headache. This is now happening three or more times a week and lasts for about 20 minutes. It starts as a small circle or a line, like a cut diamond first and then it goes colored, which expands until it takes most of the vision. I cannot really see anything at this point. I feel as if the esophagus is blocked when I swallow food. I have never had migraines in my life. My mother has multiple sclerosis (MS). What could cause these visual disturbances and tingling? I am on Sulfasalazine, Melperon, Leflunomide, Pantoprazole, Thyronajod, Vitamin D, B12 and Shilajit. I have Chiari malformation of about 12.78 mm at last measure, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, gluten sensitivity, herniated cervical disc, fibromyalgia, bone cysts and spurs, restless leg syndrome, wrist degeneration and cartilage too.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand your symptoms well. Very high likely that your Chiari malformation with syrinx is giving you the trouble again. This time with hydrocephalus as well. Your symptoms are quite significant and points at syrinx progression with hydrocephalus. Clinically, I do not think it as MS (multiple sclerosis). But, just by symptom profile we cannot be 100% sure. The best would be to go for a scan first. I would recommend you an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scan with spinal screening. It would also reveal if any changes suggestive of MS. Please do not carry on with your current symptoms. Work up is necessary as advised.
