What could be the reason for irregular periods?

I read your query and understand your concern. If you are sure about pregnancy, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or hypothyroidism is possible. As per your description was there no menstrual bleeding for 7 months, or was there slight bleeding in between? How were your previous cycles? Have you done any investigations?

There are most probability chances of having PCOS or thyroid abnormality. These days PCOS is very common, especially in the young population, irregular periods, scanty menses, acne, excessive weight gain, and facial hair these things are commonly seen in PCOS. So I would suggest doing a USG (ultrasound) pelvis scan, thyroid profile, and CBC (completed blood count) to rule out any pathology so accordingly we can start proper treatment. Discharge and fishy smell indicate a vaginal infection. To avoid such infections, you should keep the genital area clean and dry, change undergarments twice daily, and wash your genitals with soft cleansers.
