Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old girl and my last period was one and a half months ago, and then 15 days ago, my pregnancy was confirmed through transvaginal sonography, indicating a five-week pregnancy. I took a tablet of Mifepristone (anti progestational steroid) on that day, followed by one tablet of Misoprostol two days later. I took all four tablets as prescribed. After ten days, a repeated ultrasound was performed, and the uterus was found to be clear, indicating a successful abortion. Following the abortion, my gynecologist prescribed monthly oral contraceptive pills for 21 days to regulate my periods. However, I have been experiencing stomach and vaginal pain since then. Despite taking Dronis 30 for six days, I still experience intermittent stomach pain, which is quite severe when it occurs. I also have occasional painful sensations in the vagina. Please diagnose the cause of my symptoms.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. If you had regular periods before the abortion, there was no need for Dronis. However, since you have already started taking it, I suggest you continue them for a duration of 21 days as prescribed. In case of pain, take a tablet of a medication containing Dicyclomine and Simethicone as needed. After the abortion, there is a chance of infection, so I suggest you watch out for any signs such as smelly vaginal discharge, burning sensation during urination, and abdominal pain. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
