Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am eight weeks pregnant, and the bleeding has increased significantly since this morning, and the lower tummy and leg muscles are as painful as my periods. There was no heartbeat found on the scan yesterday. The doctor told me to continue taking my medications for another fifteen days and to wait. This morning the bleeding has increased, but no tissues have been found. Should I continue taking the blood thinners prescribed to prevent miscarriage? Please advise, I had a 3-year-old son whom I lost to brain cancer four months ago, and I am trying for a safe pregnancy.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you are experiencing heavy bleeding and pain during early pregnancy, in some cases, bleeding and cramping during early pregnancy can be signs of a miscarriage. If an ultrasound has already shown no heartbeat, it may indicate a nonviable pregnancy. However, every situation is different, and it is important to follow your doctor's advice. Continuing medication as prescribed by your doctor may be one option to help manage the bleeding and potentially prevent a miscarriage. However, it is essential to discuss any concerns or changes in your symptoms with your healthcare provider. They can evaluate your condition and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. I am sorry to hear about your experience. After seven weeks, no heartbeat is a sign of an unhealthy pregnancy, and mostly it will not go ahead, and nature is trying to stop it. I hope strength is with you during this difficult time.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
