Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 23 years old. I developed a mole on my nose about five years ago, which I did not like. Initially, it was a small, raised black mole. Over time, I tried to remove it several times using my nails, and each attempt seems to have caused it to grow larger. It is now about 2.5 times its original size, raised, with a diameter of approximately 1.5 mm and well-defined edges. Occasionally, when I press on it very hard, it feels like someone is pressing it with nails. I have also struggled with acne for ten years, leaving me with raised scars, some of which are still healing.
Should I be concerned about this mole, or is it just a normal mole?
Kindly assist.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
Based on your description, it seems that the mole may have grown due to self-manipulation. I recommend consulting a dermatologist, who can examine the mole using a dermoscope to assess its microscopic features and provide a proper diagnosis. If there’s a family history of skin cancers or any other types of cancer, it's important to seek medical advice immediately.
Otherwise, monitor the mole for warning signs such as:
If you are concerned, a dermatologist can safely remove the mole and send it for a biopsy for further evaluation.
For your acne, avoid picking at it, as this can lead to deeper and more stubborn scars.
Recommended Investigations: Dermoscopy examination for a detailed view of the mole.
Follow-up: Feel free to follow up if you have any further questions or concerns.

I hope this answers your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
