Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female. I have not had my period for more than three months. I have taken four pregnancy tests, and all were positive. This week I have felt awful and have been getting sick. I know I need to go to the doctor, but I am petrified of needles and having to get my blood taken. If I go to the doctor, will they have to do a blood test even though I am certain I am pregnant? Also, is there anything I could be prescribed for my morning sickness?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

If you have been experiencing normal cycles for three months, then you can have a transvaginal scan. I hope it will be able to conclude your pregnancy, exact gestational age, and the fetal heartbeat. Following are my suggestions:

  • You can have small frequent meals containing juices, soups, fruits, sandwiches, etc after taking the medication Cyclizine 50 mg 45 minutes before a meal, but better to take not less than eight hours intervals.
  • Having vitamins B1 and B6 along with these helps to prevent further side effects like the Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome of vomiting in patients in early pregnancy.
  • Continue folic acid as well.
  • Walk daily and include recreational activities.
  • Ideally, before trying to have a pregnancy, quit recreational drugs completely.

I hope you get my point.

Best of luck.
