What could lead to pain in the deltoids and triceps after pull-ups or running?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have acute pain in the deltoids and triceps, along with swollen fingers. It started after the pull-ups and running. Currently, I am taking Aceclofenac. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like a muscle spasm so you need to take analgesics (painkillers) and stay off the gym till it settles down. It would help if you took the following tablets. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.

  1. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg, twice daily for ten days after food.
  2. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg, once daily for ten days before food.
  3. Tablet Shelcal (calcium) 500 mg, once daily for thirty days before food.

Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these medications if you have bronchial asthma. You can follow up immediately in case of any untoward reaction. I hope this helps.

Thank you.
