Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had stiffness and numbness in my hands and legs for the past six months, so I cannot pick up any object properly because they slip. Seven months ago, my B12 was 211; then I started to take supplements, and now it is 2000.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you so much for sharing your query with me.
You are suffering from weakness in both hands and legs. It appears that you are suffering from peripheral neuropathy. I have seen your reports; sugar is normal, and B12 was low, but now it is normal. And many other routine reports are normal. My advice to you is to go and consult a neurologist or neurosurgeon. It is not a straightforward disease or vitamin B12-related. Please do NCV (nerve conduction velocity) or EMG (electromyography), and if necessary, go for a nerve biopsy.
I hope it helped with the query.
Please let me know if you have any more questions on your mind.
I would be happy to guide you.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
Please suggest what treatment can be done?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have seen your nerve conduction velocity (NCV) reports. Please consult a neurologist in your city, as you will need additional testing to determine the cause of this peripheral neuropathy, including serum protein electrophoresis, antinuclear antibody (ANA) blot, serum calcium, and a CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) study. After getting these test results, you might start steroid or IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) or plasmapheresis.
Hope I have addressed your concerns.
Do follow up whenever needed.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
I consulted a neurologist. I showed my nerve conduction velocity (NCV) report. He said this is due to vitamin B12 and prescribed me injections and a tablet for a month. I am totally confused. What should I do?
Please suggest.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I do not think so. It is not due to vitamin B12 deficiency.
Do follow up whenever needed.
Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I suggest you try those medicines for a month, but do the above investigations as early as possible. Along with that, do erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP).
Do follow up whenever needed.
Thank you.
