Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had recently had my mustache transplant and I was given local anesthesia on my lips to make it numb. After anesthesia, my lips were swollen really big but I was informed about this and this went away in four to five days. Yesterday I went to wash the area and now when I look in the mirror, the lips still look a bit swollen to me. The procedure was done last week and it has been eight days now. Is this something I should be worried about, like would these swollen lips be permanent? Could you please let me know about this or should I have some medication?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Recovery will take a few more days to heal. If the area is swollen, apply one percent Hydrocortisone (Cetyl alcohol and Methylparaben) cream at night for a few days (10 days). In case of pain take-

1. Tablet Emanzen D (Diclofenac sodium and Serratiopeptidase) twice daily after food for three days.

2. Tablet Omnacortil (Prednisolone) 10 mg once a day before breakfast for three days (to reduce swelling).

3. Apply topical antibiotic cream like Mupirocin cream in the daytime for 10 days.

Do not press around your lips for three weeks. The reaction (side effect) of transplantation is swelling or pain. Avoid scratching and rubbing. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your response.

Currently, there is no pain for me as it is just swollen. So, I hope if there is just swelling, I can use the one percent Hydrocortisone cream and Omnacortil 10mg tablet, but will there be any side effects having this medicine to my transplantation? Like will the growth or anything be affected? Is it safe to apply and have the tablet?

Kindly suggest. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it is safe after three days of transplantation.

Thank you.
