What causes white lines in the nails?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
There are small white lines in my nails of the hand. One of my friends told me it is a symptom of calcium deficiency. Please help me with this issue.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
White spots or streaks are normal and nothing to worry.
But, parallel white lines that extend all across the nail known as Muehrcke's line are a sign of a low level of protein in the blood.
Low levels of calcium which is termed as hypocalcemia has symptoms mainly of neuromuscular like cramps, tingling sensation, numbness, perioral anesthesia, etc.
So do not get confused about it.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Two weeks before, I had diarrhea and Oflox OZ under the doctor's guidance. After the course, I had gastric and semisolid motion. Again, I consulted the doctor. She gave Razon 20 mg for five days. Still, I am passing semisolid stools three times a day. She asked me to stop the milk related products. Is it the side effect of antibiotics?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
During diarrhea, it is advisable to have curd or yogurt rather than milk products like milk, cheese, etc. as the gut needs more lactase enzyme to digest the lactulose present in milk which in turn triggers diarrhea rather than helping it out.
As curd and yogurt have probiotics you can consume.
