I have eye pain, and my CT scan shows sinus issues. What to do?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The right ear was clogged with a ringing sensation one week before, and it resolved without treatment the next day. But I was experiencing dizziness, tingling in the head, a blocked nose with discharge, and a headache. A CT scan was taken upon consultation with a neurologist, which showed some sinus issues.

I have pain in the eye region also. Now, I have been referred to ENT. I have also attached the CT scan extract.

Please help me and explain what the comments mean.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

According to your report (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), a mass in the left maxillary sinus extends to the left nasal cavity, which is causing your concern. As mentioned in the CT (computed tomography) scan, it seems like a nasal polyp, which is a non-cancerous mass and requires surgical removal. Get examined by the ENT (ear, nose, throat) surgeon.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you, doctor, for the response.

I will consult an ENT surgeon. Do you think this could be treated with some nasal sprays? Just asking for a possibility.

Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Steroid nasal spray and oral steroids can be tried before surgery, but are less likely to resolve it entirely unless the mass is small. If the group is small, there can be some reduction in the size of the mass.

Thank you.
