Nevus Sebaceous

Nevus sebaceous is a hairless, benign, congenital hair follicle tumor most commonly involving the scalp and face. They consist of sebaceous glands and sometimes the entire content of the skin. The areas affected by nevus sebaceous lack hair and appear as a smooth oval or linear patch, developing into a warty bump in adolescence. They may be associated with certain eye and brain disorders to form nevus sebaceous syndrome. Genetic predisposition with developmental ectodermal defects are the known causes.
