Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Two days ago, my father fell on the road facing down. He is 71 years old. He got injured on his knee, and his wrist and nose started bleeding due to the injury. I took him to a local doctor who prescribed a few medicines and a tetanus injection. I am attaching the prescription along with this for your reference.
Now, he has got a few red clots one inch below both his eyes under the skin, which seem like blood clots. Should I be worried about it? Do I need to consult someone for it? I am attaching a picture of his face too. He is taking medicines for asthma and diabetes.
Kindly check them and guide me.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query.
I have checked the pictures (attachments removed to protect patient identity). Bleeding from the nose and blood clots below the eye are dangerous signs of internal bleeding or hemorrhage in the brain. I would suggest you immediately carry out a CT (computerized tomography) scan of the head and neck region to rule out internal bleeding or hemorrhage in the brain and further treatment and management accordingly. If the reports are normal, you can continue with the prescribed treatment.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Can internal bleeding happen two days after the incident? Would it not have happened immediately?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, it can happen two days later. Bleeding may be slow, so it took time to show up below the eyes. Also, bleeding from the nose started immediately after the fall. A CT scan becomes mandatory in this scenario to rule out internal bleeding. I hope this helps.
Thank you, and take care.
Regards.
