What treatments work best for PCOD and obesity?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been grappling with obesity since childhood, and despite numerous attempts, including yoga, Zumba, group classes, gym workouts, and various diets, I have not achieved the desired weight loss. Fortunately, I do not have any medical issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid problems, but I do have PCOD. Despite trying various treatments such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Allopathy, I have not seen the desired results. I am a 28-year-old female, and I am reaching out for guidance on what steps to take next.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

If you have PCOD (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), then the weight gain is due to PCOD only. So, it will be better if you treat PCOD first. I would suggest you start contraceptive medication for PCOD and once your PCOD is treated, then you will not have weight gain again. Along with it, I would suggest you do exercises regularly and have control of your diet. You should go running or walking at least 3.1 miles a day. Do you have any other underlying conditions like hypothyroidism (a condition when the thyroid gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormones to meet the body's needs)? Please let me know so I can provide appropriate guidance.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
