Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have three ulcers looking sores in my mouth, one is on my lip and is the most painful and one is under my tongue but no pain at all, the other one is on my gum (not painful). I also noticed at the back of my throat (to the side) there is a white head-looking spot. I feel there is something in my throat that is not going down. There is a movable lump that is kind of big under my neck, and I feel another movable lump in my cheek (both left side). It has been a few days that the tip of my tongue also feels like burnt but it is not. Here and there I feel a very slight ear pain but nothing major.

Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am a maxillofacial surgeon and I will be answering your doubts in detail. I guess you do not have any intraoral pics or anything right? How many days is it exactly since you noticed them? My diagnosis would depend precisely on that. Any medical issues you have? Hypertension, diabetes, or on any medications, pregnancy, or lactation? Kindly answer.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The one on the gum appeared first about two weeks ago, then the one on the lip, and then I noticed the under-the-tongue one yesterday (do not know how long that has been there). The small dot at the back of my throat is also what I noticed today so not sure how long I had it for.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Okay, so if this is occurring so sequentially, then it is likely to be a severe Infection. I asked you about your medical history, I would like to know because you need to start immediately antibiotic prophylaxis straight away. You can also rinse your mouth with lukewarm salt water several times a day or mouth rinse with chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash. Do let me know your medical or medication history, that would allow me to differentiate between the cause, whether these ulcers are caused by bacterial origin or if they have any underlying medical condition to it. So let me know. Your ulcers look too severe and acute, you will need to start treatment straight away. Any allergies to any antibiotics or any medications in general that you know of? Confirm this before I prescribe the prophylaxis. Medical history too, please.

Thanks and regards.
