Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 56-year-old male and would like to fix the problem of misaligned teeth, which are going from bad to worse. Is it advisable to extract the front top four teeth and opt for teeth implantation? The orthodontist said that slight alignment is possible with braces.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Firstly I would like you to attach a picture of your teeth to understand the extent of the miss alignment.
A full mouth X-ray or an OPG (orthopantomography) is also advisable to assess the amount of bone loss, and the alignment from the roots. It can also detect any hidden tooth inside the jaw. Orthodontic treatment can be possible, but as your age is 56 years, it solely depends on the strength of your jaws. If the bone is strong enough with no or minimal bone loss, you can opt for orthodontic treatment, but it will be a long-term treatment with good results. Your patience will be most important.
In the case of implants, an OPG is required to access the strength of the jaw and adequate space for the implant. It can be a quick fix compared to the orthodontic treatment, but it depends on the extent of misalignment because only placing the implants in the front tooth region can improve the look but still not correct your bite.
Upload the OPG and full mouth picture to plan the correct treatment accordingly.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
