Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female. Taking the tablet Slynd for the management of ovarian cyst pain. Also take a multivitamin, black cohosh, fish oil, vitamin D, collagen, and a probiotic. I have two confirmed complex cysts on both ovaries that were seen in the ultrasound four months ago. An ultrasound two days ago showed them a little smaller. The pain is dull and achy. It is usually felt when sitting or doing any movement that applies pressure to the abdomen. Since starting Slynd, my periods are longer, and I have spotting before and after my periods. I ended my period four days ago and woke up to spotting again. I have never had spotting before and am starting to wonder if I am not actually spotting it and if it is a bloody discharge (an infection). I have to wear a pantsuit, and the color is dark dusky brown or rose. Not the bright period color or consistency that I know. It happens between periods, so I assumed spotting, but I am someone who has a pH level that likes to hover around BV levels. I have gotten BV six times in four years. I have been with the same partner for four years now, and I was tested for STDs three months into our exclusive relationship. I was negative. I did pop positive for HPV two months ago (negative for the scary strands). With all this, should discharge be a concern? How do I know it is "spotting" and not my body telling me there is an infection?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome toicliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

So if an ovarian cyst was found on ultrasound and you have been having discharge and spotting off and on, you should get yourself properly investigated. Please get a fresh MRI of the pelvis done. Also, get a Ca 125 blood marker done and a diagnostic laparoscopy done by a gynecologist. Are your periods regular? You should get checked up by a gynecologist and get a pap smear done. Also, get a vaginal swab and culture done. You can revert back to me with all the reports. Are you on any medications?

Revert with the answer to assist further. Thank you and take care.

Regards.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Hope you are not taking. Slynd tablets irregularly as they are hormone preparations and can lead to Spotting off and on.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
