How to lose fat safely without risking growth?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 19 years old, 5.81 feet tall, and weigh 195.41 pounds, which puts me in the overweight body mass index (BMI) (basal metabolic rate) range. I actively lift weights and do cardio, but I want to reduce my body fat. However, I am concerned that reducing my calorie intake could negatively affect my growth, as I am still in my growth phase. Please tell me;

  1. Could you advise on how I can safely lose fat?
  2. Would you recommend safe approaches I can take now?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry, I am here to take care of you. Based on your request, I will advise you to take the following medication that will work independently on your overweight and not affect your body development:

  1. One tablet of Orlistat (an anti-obesity agent) 75 mg daily for one month.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
