Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I woke up with heart palpitations after drinking and eating pizza last night. Today my left arm near the tricep or shoulder and back had radiating pain. However, when I worked out (30 minutes on the treadmill), my pain went away. I also have very bad gastritis today and burping a lot. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are experiencing palpitations. Alcohol, cigarettes, etc., worsens palpitations. Therefore, I advise you to stop drinking. Any history of shortness of breath or dizziness? Please answer the question so that I can guide you appropriately.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you. I do not have dizziness or shortness of breath. But I have had radiating arm pain in my left arm for almost 14 hours now since waking up from having heart palpitations. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is unlikely that the pain is of cardiac origin, but I will like you to do an ECG (echocardiogram) to rule that out. It is important. If the palpitations get unbearable, I suggest you take 10 mg of Propranolol once daily for three days. Do the ECG and get back to me with the result. I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you. I will get ECG done tomorrow and let you know my results. The left-arm pain was worrisome for me as it was not in one spot, and I have seen left arm pain was linked to the heart. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand you must be worried, but it is not worth the worry. It is unlikely to be due to a heart condition in your age group. But it is not uncommon to see persons in your age group with heart disease. It is important to always do investigations to rule out the cause of any underlying condition. I hope this was helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
