Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A few months ago, I started experiencing heart palpitations, mainly at midnight. Concerned about my health, I went to the hospital and had an ECG(Electrocardiogram) done, which showed a normal reading. However, my blood pressure seems to fluctuate, and it's currently at 139/78 mmHg. Additionally, I have noticed that one of my arms feels heavy when I lift it. What type of scan or test should I consider to better understand what might be causing these symptoms? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. I read your query and understood your concern.

Your ECG is normal. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions to control blood pressure:

  1. Avoid smoking and other addictions.

  2. Reduce salt intake in the diet.

  3. Reduce fatty foods, junk foods, and saturated fats.

  4. Avoid stress and anxiety.

  5. Do regular moderate-intensity exercise such as brisk walking for 30 minutes

  6. Have proper night sleep, at least eight hours per 24 hours including at least six hours of night uninterrupted sleep.

  7. Reduce weight even if weight is within normal range.

  8. Drink plenty of water.

  9. Do deep breathing exercises and meditation.

Measure your blood pressure while you are totally relaxed, and sit for five minutes in a quiet room without talking to anyone. Empty bowel and bladder before checking blood pressure. Avoid tea/coffee 30 minutes before checking blood pressure. Sit on a chair with feet on the ground, back supported, hand supported on the table, and cuff at the position of the heart. Check blood pressure, and repeat after five minutes again. Then check blood pressure in the other arm and repeat after five minutes. During the entire period remain relaxed and quiet. An arm with higher blood pressure readings is your blood pressure. You may take at least two or more readings and an average of readings is your actual blood pressure.

I hope my advice will be helpful. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

    Thank you.
