Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from severe PCOS, without birth control pills, and I do not get my periods. I have been to all different gynecologists, doctors working with functional medicine, and even an acupuncturist but unfortunately, nothing helped. I hope you can help me get better and normal. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

  1. Metformin is a medication for polycystic ovarian syndrome, it will not make you gain weight. I firmly insist that you begin taking this medication today. Once your polycystic ovarian syndrome is treated and under control, it will somewhat aid in weight loss (ask your doctor for a prescription).
  2. Additionally, I have seen that many people with polycystic ovarian syndrome also have diabetes, hypothyroidism, or insulin resistance, all of which can result in weight gain. Therefore, I suggest that you get tested for these illnesses (fasting insulin levels, OGTT (Glucose tolerance tests), and serum TSH (Thyroid stimulating hormone)) to be evaluated for them.
  3. Hypothyroidism may also be the cause of your hair loss. Therefore, carry out the suggested tests and reply with the results.
  4. Correction of these conditions will result in regular periods.
  5. I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
