How to control sexual urges around children?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have constant attention towards my penis. I am having images of masturbating in front of people. I have constant urges to touch or rub my private parts, even in the presence of children. Am I a pedophile?

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist.

You are not a pedophile. You have obsessive thought disorder. I suggest you follow the below lifestyle to deal with it.

1) You need to control yourself.

2) Kindly avoid staying alone.

3) Keep yourself busy and active.

4) Stay away from searching for erotic materials.

5) Exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes or atleast walk for 30 minutes.

6) Meditate for 20 minutes daily.

7) Sit in a comfortable position and concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts.

8) Eat healthy home-cooked foods, avoid junk foods.

9) Drink enough water.

10) Spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you live away from your family.

11) Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, learning new skills or language or musical instruments.

12) Sleep for seven to eight hours.

13) Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.

But, if you touch your private parts just because you get attracted to a child, then it is a pedophile. If you try to touch a child with the wrong intention, then it is a pedophile.

I hope that you got your answers.

Thank you.
