Can excessive masturbation cause bruises on the penis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to know if my penis looks normal. I did change the soap as it caused me irritation. I have no pain during sex. It is not swollen, nor has any other bumps. I masturbate a lot and do not know if it could cause bruising. I do not see it when it grows, but flaccid I do.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, this is normal (attachment removed to preserve the patient's identity). Using a new soap and masturbation can cause penile tip irritation and burning pain on passing urine due to inflammation. There is nothing to worry about, and no medications are required. Just reduce the frequency of masturbation, and you can use olive oil as it is milder. Change the soap to a mild soap like baby soap.

If you have any more queries, please let me know.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am using remedy soap. I have searched, and it says it is suitable for use, but unsure. Could it also be friction burn due to constant masturbation? I am aware that I do clamp down on the head at times while ejaculating. Could that also be a problem?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, friction leads to inflammation, and squeezing is dangerous as it might cause urethral injury; please do avoid that.

Kind regards.
