Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 67 year old retired IT professional. I am a non-diabetic. My weight is 163 pounds and height is 68.5 inch. My BMI is around 24. I am fully active with every day eight to 10 km walk without fail. I did not visit doctor in the last 50 years for any major illness. My CBC count is normal and no issues with cholesterol. I am a BP patient for more than 11 years. Now my BP is normal with tablet Temsan 80 one a day. 11 years back it started with 40 and has gone up to 80 now. I am a non-smoker and non-alcoholic. I have been enjoying normal sex life. Since 21 days, I am getting penile erection but not able to sustain the same for longer time to complete the intercourse. There is no other medical condition or problem. I sleep well at night for six to seven hours and also used to have a nap for one hour in the afternoon. There is no tension or anxiety in the day-to-day life. List of medicines I take every day are Temsan 80 one tablet, Citracal 500 one tablet and vitamin supplements two gummies. Please let me know your comments. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read and understood your problem. Since your general reports are normal and there is no anxiety, you need to do sex related tests like serum or blood prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and testosterone. Depending on the reports, treatment will be decided. Though you say that there is no tension, but your problem started suddenly 21 days back. It points to the reason being some change or stress in your life. But, if you mean by not able to sustain the same for longer time to complete the intercourse and you ejaculate early, then you need not do the above tests, but do ultrasound of prostate. So, please clarify whether you discharge early or the erection goes away without discharge.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your prompt response. I wish to communicate to the queries that you raised as below. Till last month end, I had normal erection and normal intercourse. In the last 12 months, there was only one episode with early discharge. Subsequently, in the past 21 days, I had an early discharge in one episode, while erection went down in another episode. The discharge quantity appears normal giving pleasurable orgasm. I also to wish to inform that once or twice in 10 days time there is normal morning erection which sustains for a good amount of time and goes down after urinating. Also, I wish to state that never had any prolonged painful erection in my life time. In last one week, I have been having nostril choke up giving out lot of mucus and decreasing the odor sensing capability. Can this be the reason for my current medical condition? I understand that age plays its role and at my age 67, is it time to hang the boots or waste time and money to investigate the underlying medical conditions? I look forward to your valued consultation.

Hello doctor,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your problem seems to be temporary. With relaxation exercises it will improve. Testing for prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and prostate will be helpful for you. If any one is abnormal, then it may affect your general health even more than sexual problem.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
