What can be the causes for light green discharge from the penis?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
When I woke up in the morning, I noticed a light green discharge from my penis. This has happened for the first time. Can you please help me?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. Please answer a few questions. Do you have any pain or itching? Is there difficulty in passing urine? Did you have any unprotected intercourse in the recent past? Discharge from the penis can occur due to urethral inflammation or infection. So to diagnose the organism causing the discharge, I suggest you perform the following tests. Do Gram stain test, Methylene blue (MB) or Gentian violet (GV) stain microscopy and Leukocyte esterase test.
Patient's Query
Hi,
I have no pain or itching, but it does burn when I pee. I did have unprotected anal sex two days ago, but no sex yesterday. It appeared this morning. Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. I suggest you get the tests done that I mentioned earlier and get an HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) test done to know the organism responsible for the discharge. After that, antibiotics can be prescribed to you by your physician. Sex partners of men with infection within the preceding 60 days should be referred for evaluation, testing, and presumptive treatment. To avoid reinfection, sex partners should abstain from sexual intercourse until they and their partner are adequately treated. Thank you.
Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
