Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My wife has been facing personality disorder for quite many years. She is not keen to see a psychiatrist. One or two doctors whom we had consulted, and who had seen her once felt that she may have paranoid schizophrenia, borderline personality, or paranoid personality disorder. The episodes were from mild to moderate, four to five in number in the last year, and very severe episodes were three in the last year. However, the year was worse with continuous trouble. According to my observation, her symptoms are more toward paranoid personality disorder. Last year she continued with only one medicine Nexito 10 alternate days. Please guide me on what can be done.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
The prognosis depends on the diagnosis. Personality disorders are difficult to treat. The treatment is mainly psychotherapy and very low-dose medication is required for schizophrenia. Antipsychotics are needed in optimum doses. The prognosis is not bad if diagnosed early.
You can ask her to visit the psychiatrist with you for your problem and inform the psychiatrist beforehand.
I advise you to do the following:
During episodes, you can give her at least sedative medication like tablet Lonazep MD (Benzodiazepines) 0.5 to 1 mg.
I need information about her behavior, symptoms, the onset of symptoms, sleep, appetite, any odd behavior, etc.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
