Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My partner had her last period two months back. Then we had unprotected sex last month. It did not last long, and I did not ejaculate inside her. After a few days, she bought and used a silicone sex toy. Two days after that, my partner experienced heavy bleeding, including blood clots similar to the period she said. It lasted around two to three days. About two and half weeks after that, she was expecting her period to come, but she has not got periods till now, and she is experiencing PMS symptoms like breast pain, back pain, and lightheadedness. She has a history of irregular periods. One time she was delayed for about three months. She is taking medications for anemia. Should we seek help? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The period may be late due to several reasons, including stress. The chance of pregnancy is nil, but she can do a home pregnancy test. If she feels weak, I suggest seeing a doctor; she might be severely anemic.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have a few more doubts. What may have caused the sudden heavy bleeding around one month back? She experienced heavy bleeding with a lot of blood clots for about three days, but she did not feel any PMS symptoms before that. And my partner is asking, should she take iron supplements when she is about to have her period?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

She had used a sex toy which could have caused some injury and led to bleeding. She can take iron supplements, but she should check her hemoglobin level in blood.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have a few more doubts, doctor. She is still experiencing mild cramps like menstruation, but no blood is coming out. She has a discharge that has a jelly-like consistency but no color (similar to egg white). Do we need to consult a doctor?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are two possibilities - she might have an impending period causing the symptoms of cramp and discharge. She also might have got hurt using a sex toy, which again can cause the same symptoms due to inflammation. As mentioned earlier, if she is worried about pregnancy, she can do a pregnancy test. Any way, a physical check-up is always better.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
