What causes two different colors of eyelashes and hair?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was born with two different color eyelashes. On my left eye is black and on my right eye is blonde. Also, I have blonde hair streaks on my right side and half of my eyebrow is blonde. What could be causing that?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This condition is called poliosis. This may be due to:

1. Wardenburg syndrome.

2. Tuberculosis.

3. Piebaldism, etc.

4. Thyroid problems.

5. Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease.

Until examination and investigation are done, it is difficult to treat what is the cause. Usually treated with medical or laser therapy or hair transplantation. Take care.
