Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 28 years old and married, and we are planning for kids. I missed my period this month and got checked by my gynecologist. She suggested an ultrasound showing that I have polycystic ovarian disorder. I was scared, and my doctor said the chances of infertility were high. I was shocked, and she prescribed me Metformin for one month. Is it something serious? Can I not get pregnant? Please give me hope; this was the first time I had missed my period. I do not face any other issues. Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

First of all, you can get pregnant. Yes, infertility is possible, but we can manage that. Wait for spontaneous menses or contact your gynecologist for the same. You can continue Metformin. I suggest a few lifestyle changes, such as walking, exercising, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining BMI (body mass index) in the healthy range. Follow up after you get menses for fertile days and further management. I also suggest starting Folic acid 4 mg tablet daily after breakfast. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and atke the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
