Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got chicken pox in my childhood, I did not take any measures regarding the post pigmentations. The dark spot on my chin is still persistent and I want it to be depigmented. Can you kindly suggest me a solution?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Generally, chickenpox will leave behind some atrophic or depressed scars, which are associated with hyperpigmentation. From the image attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), I cannot see much scarring. In fact, I can see some acne lesions and milia. Anyway, I am suggesting some depigmenting creams that may help with the hyperpigmentation and in treating the acne as well. Use Broad-spectrum sunscreen. Take Tablet Vitamin C 500 mg twice daily. Use Aziderm 20 % cream (Azelaic acid). Follow these medications for four weeks. If the scarring persists, then we can do certain procedures like chemical peeling, subcision, and resurfacing lasers. I hope that the information helps you and kindly provide your review so that we can help you better. Thank you.
