Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 6-week-old baby was given the vaccine for DTwp, IPV 1, hepatitis B2, HIB 1, rotavirus (RV5 - first dose), and PVC 1 yesterday morning. Today she had a little fever and vomiting. I gave her Sumo drops and Ondem drops after that. Are these symptoms natural? How much time will she require to recover completely?

Please give your suggestions.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The symptoms your baby is facing are expected after the vaccines have been given. These symptoms may last up to a maximum of 72 hours (post-vaccination) and not beyond that. For better relief, I suggest you give her syrup Ibugesic plus (Paracetamol and Ibuprofen) 1.5 ml twice a day for two to three days instead of Sumo L (Paracetamol). You can give Ondem (Ondansetron) syrup as and when required for the vomiting. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. If these symptoms persist beyond 72 hours post-vaccination, it is best to get the child evaluated physically by a pediatrician.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

From last night there has been no problem, no vomiting, and no fever. But today, the stool appeared slightly greenish. Why is it so? Which medicine should be given? Will it resolve with the tablet SUMO L?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Greenish stools are considered normal up to six months of age. So nothing is to be done about it since it is normal. No need for the tablet Sumo L (Paracetamol) if no fever is present.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thnak you for your reply.

Presently she does not have a fever, but she is moaning intermittently. Is it due to pain? I have been applying an ice pack to the injection site since yesterday. What should be done now? Will it cure automatically?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If she is intermittently moaning, she must be out of pain. In such cases, I suggest you to give Ibugesic plus syrup 1.5 ml and it should help. If required, a repeat dose after eight hours can also be given.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

The tablet Ibugesic plus is not available here. Tablet SUMO L was given six hours ago. Can it be given for pain relief?

Please answer.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, tablet SUMO L (Paracetamol) can be given now (post six hours after the last dose).

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
