Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My partner and I had unprotected sex last night but there was no ejaculation, and it was not for a very prolonged period of time. However, I suspect that a very minimal amount of precum might have entered my vagina. Is that a cause for concern? Is there a risk of pregnancy? Should I take a pill within the next 48 hours? Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We will pay close attention to your worries and address all your questions with utmost care.

I have gone through your history in detail, and I can understand your concern. From your description, there could be a possibility of pregnancy (though the chances are very low). You should do a home urine pregnancy test after seven days of your missed period date or you can do a blood beta-hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test to rule out pregnancy right now. I request you to do this test in case you missed your period. Please do mention if you missed your period. If there is no pregnancy, you can wait and watch for your menses or can take Progesterone for withdrawal bleeding. I suggest you do a thyroid profile and hemoglobin test to detect any hormonal changes.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
