How to deal with flu during pregnancy?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 19-year-old female. My height is 161 centimeters, and I weigh 62 kilograms.
I am 18 weeks pregnant, nauseous, uncomfortable, in pain, and getting the flu. The day I was getting started with the flu, I consulted my midwife. Unfortunately, it has become worse. They said to seek help if it gets worse.
I am unsure what to take to help as I am pregnant.
What do you suggest?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is better not to ignore minor symptoms during pregnancy because they could be harmful. For example, flu and vomiting could happen, but the pain in the lower abdomen is alarming. However, you have not mentioned the pain site and history completely.
In case of lower abdominal pain, vomiting, and flu better to check fever and blood pressure as well. I can give tablet Cyclizine 50 milligrams per eight hours four to five hours before food. For flu, have steam and gargles multiple times a day, depending on the severity of symptoms. Honey with black pepper can help as well. Check for fever, colored sputum, and any other symptoms, if they are not relieving and symptoms increase, better to rush hospital. Blood pressure, urea electrolytes, and blood tests need to check if the electrolytes blood report shows an imbalance better to have a replacement of ions intravenously. Baby's well-being can be checked by scan if you feel too lazy and weak.
Thank you.
